Scary Movie:

Scary movie appeals to teens  of both genders, who like comedy/horror movies. This is evident due to the characters and set; as the majority of the characters are teens and the movie is set in and around a school. In addition

Mean Girls

This film appeals to both teen girls and boys but for different reasons.
Girls because of the themes that are faced

Individuality (basically just being yourself or who the character is regardless of what everyone thinks),

-Man vs. Society (or in this case, Girl vs. people at school, who are pressuring her to change the way she is in order to be accepted when she is innocent. They expect her to be a bad girl.)

-Overcoming adversity (Basically meaning accepting a tough situation and making it a victory. Lindsay Lohan's character trying to get revenge on the Plastics and although she doesn't entirely succeed, her effort encourages everyone to be themselves and also for the Plastics to separate)

-Friendship dependent on sacrifice (The protagonist had to give up her real friends to belong to the Plastics.)

-Yin and Yang: Just when the girl thought life was finally going to be easy, something bad happens to balance it all out.
