The Bling Ring
The Bling Ring is teen drama about a clique of
teenagers and there journey in robbing celebrities
houses
When watching the film , I was able to see a lot of
important issues about the narrative and how its shown
and reflected to the audience .
Conventions
When looking at the film , there are many conventions that are used in other teen movies such as :
- Relationships
- Love
- Friendship
- Crime
- Greed
- Partying
- Drugs
Characters :
- Pretty Girl
- Leader
- Followers
- Close and private clique
- Outsider
Locations :
- Beach
- School
- Clubs
- Family Home
This film also follows the story line of fitting in as just like the protagonist in Mean Girls who was Cady , in this film Mark wants to fit in with the crowd and both choose a clique that isn't as good for them as expected .
However , the movie also differs from other teen movies as it focuses on one clique, rather than showing the rivalry between them and other cliques , also there aren't not a lot of ethnic difference between the character in the movie , which is highlighted through there social status of being of middle class , which is contrasted to the uncommon sub-genre of teen movies having crime .
This shows that social networks have the influence in modern day society to carry out deviant or things that aren't not seen as right , in this case finding the addresses to the celebrities houses.
